Before using your AI Chat Agent with real customers, it’s important to test how it behaves, responds, and follows your instructions. TalkRev lets you do this safely without affecting live conversations or customer data.

Where to Test Your AI Agent

You can test your AI Chat Agent directly from your TalkRev workspace:

  • Go to Channels → AI Chat Agent

  • Click View to open the chat preview

  • Or use your Chat URL to see the agent exactly as visitors will see it on your website

This preview reflects your live configuration, including knowledge sources and instructions.

How to Test

  1. Open the AI Chat Agent preview

  2. Ask realistic customer questions (pricing, services, availability, policies, next steps)

  3. Review responses in real time

Testing helps you confirm that the AI:

  • Uses correct business information

  • Responds clearly and consistently

  • Knows when to share contact details for human support

Review Conversation History

By clicking AI Chat Agent in the sidebar, you can view:

  • Past conversations

  • Topics customers asked about

  • Message count and duration

This helps you understand real usage patterns and spot gaps in your knowledge base.

Customize Behavior in Settings

From the Settings panel of your AI Chat Agent, you can fine-tune how it behaves:

  • Change the welcome message shown to visitors

  • Add custom instructions, such as:

    • “Always answer in Spanish”

    • “Never mention competitor pricing”

    • “If asked about returns, direct users to our return page”

    • “Use a friendly, casual tone”

These instructions guide how your AI responds across all conversations.

Important Limitations

  • File uploads are not supported inside the chat

  • Switching to a live agent within the chat is not available

  • The AI can share phone numbers or email addresses to reach your team

Tips for Better Testing

  • Ask real questions customers actually use

  • Update your Knowledge Base if answers feel incomplete

  • Re-test after every change to instructions or content

Small adjustments can significantly improve response quality.
